Privacy-first, first-party, anonymous

Shopwaver is a free tool, and we keep it that way by measuring what helps us improve it — nothing more. Our analytics are first-party and anonymous: we do not know who you are, and we never try to find out.

What we measure

We count page views and a few in-tool actions (for example: which destination country and weight you compared, when you copy a coupon, and when you open a community finds sheet). This tells us which tools are useful and where the data falls short, so we can make the site better.

What we never collect

  • No names, emails or accounts — Shopwaver has no login and asks for nothing.
  • No raw IP addresses. We derive only a coarse country from the network edge and discard the rest.
  • No full browser fingerprint. We keep only a broad device type, browser family and operating system.
  • No cross-site tracking, no third-party ad or analytics networks, no data sold or shared.
  • No product links or item names you view at an agent — those never reach us.

Cookies & storage

We use two small first-party cookies and no persistent tracker. sw_vid holds a random id for your current browsing session, and sw_sid groups a single visit (it expires after 30 minutes of inactivity). Both are session-scoped: closing your browser or clearing cookies resets them completely, and nothing is kept anywhere to bring an old id back. We also keep one temporary sessionStorageentry per visit that records only where you arrived from (referrer / campaign), so a session's pages can be grouped together; it is cleared when you close the tab. Because we deliberately keep no long-lived, cross-visit identifier, our visitor counts are estimates — a browsing session, not a precise headcount — and, since there is no persistent tracking, this measurement does not require a cookie-consent banner.

Sign-up links

The “Sign up” links to agents are referral links and pass through a Shopwaver redirect so we can count clicks. They carry no personal data — only which button was clicked — and never affect rankings or prices.

Retention

Raw events are kept for 90 days and then deleted; only small, fully anonymous daily and monthly totals are kept longer. If you would like anything clarified, reach us through the details on the About page.
