Privacy & analytics
Shopwaver is a free tool, and we keep it that way by measuring what helps us improve it — nothing more. Our analytics are first-party and anonymous: we do not know who you are, and we never try to find out.
What we measure
We count page views and a few in-tool actions (for example: a destination country, a broad product-price or parcel-weight range, when you copy a coupon, and when you open a community finds sheet). For Link Converter, there is no automatic page-view, time-on-page or scroll measurement: we count only deliberate spreadsheet scans, conversion outcomes, cancellations and result actions such as copy, open or download. This tells us which tools are useful and where the data falls short, so we can make the site better.
What we never collect
- No names, emails or accounts — Shopwaver has no login and asks for nothing.
- No raw IP addresses are stored. The server may use an address briefly for abuse limits; analytics retains only a coarse country.
- No persistent browser fingerprint. We keep broad device, browser and operating-system labels plus the current viewport and screen size.
- No cross-site tracking or third-party ad/analytics networks, and we do not sell this data.
- Product links submitted to Total cost are processed only to return the comparison. They are not written to Shopwaver's database or analytics; a short-lived server-memory cache can hold the lookup result and expires automatically.
Cookies & storage
We use two small first-party cookies and no long-lived tracker. sw_vid holds a random id for the current browser session and has no fixed expiry. sw_sid groups activity into a visit and uses a sliding 30-minute expiry, so it can remain for the rest of that short window if the browser is restarted. Clearing cookies removes both; an expired id is never recreated from another identifier. We also keep one temporary sessionStorageentry per visit that records only where you arrived from (referrer / campaign), so a visit's pages share one source; it is cleared when you close the tab. Because we keep no long-lived, cross-site identifier, visitor counts are estimates rather than a precise headcount. We use this data only to measure and improve Shopwaver.
The “Sign up” links to agents are referral links and pass through a Shopwaver redirect so we can count the agent and button, using the same short-lived anonymous visit context described above. Shopwaver's ids are not sent to the agent, and these clicks never affect rankings or prices. Link Converter clearly labels that leaving a referral-code field blank uses Shopwaver's default product-link code; entering your own replaces it. Spreadsheet files, pasted product links and referral codes are not sent to Shopwaver. When a short link or USFans token needs resolution, your browser sends the required product URL directly to that platform. Converter analytics keeps only a random id for each operation, link/spreadsheet mode, selected agent names, source marketplace labels, broad count and duration ranges, fixed outcome/error categories and whether a result was copied, opened or downloaded. It never includes a product URL or id, file name or cell content, referral code, platform token or raw error text. Shared actions such as changing currency or opening a sign-up link retain the normal first-party measurement described on this page.
Retention
Raw events are kept for 90 days and then deleted; only small, fully anonymous daily aggregate totals are kept longer. If you would like anything clarified, reach us through the details on the About page.
